ABINGDON, VA (Monday, June 27, 2011) – Shelves are stocked in preparation for the June 29th opening of the new Super Dollar Discount Foods in Grundy, Virginia. Customers will get their first look at the 20,854 square foot store when the doors open Wednesday morning. The supermarket, which has undergone a complete facelift to accommodate the new format is located on Edgewater Drive in the former Food City building.

The Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission, the Washington County Board of Supervisors and the Town Council of Abingdon, Virginia announced today that Food City will locate their new corporate headquarters at the soon-to-be vacated Johnston Memorial Hospital site in Abingdon, VA. On Monday, Food City officials broke ground on a new supermarket on Frotn Street West in Coeburn, VA. The 38,000+ square foot unit is expected to be complete in the Fall of 2011 and will serve as a replacement for their existing Coeburn location.

ABINGDON, VA (Tuesday, April 12, 2011) –
Company officials recently announced plans to open a Super Dollar Discount Foods in Grundy, Virginia. The 20,854 square foot store will be located on Edgewater Drive in the former Food City building. Prior to the Summer opening, the location will undergo a complete facelift to accomodate the new format, including a bright new interior and exterior design concept.

Earlier today, Food City officials announced plans to erect several monuments at the Kingsport Press Site of their new Kingsport location. The first of which is a replica of hte original water tower. Like it's predecessor, the new tower will stand one hundred twenty three feet tall. Bearing the Kingsport Press logo, the tower will be located in the shopping center's courtyard.

JOHNSON CITY, TN (Friday, March 25, 2011) – Tyson Foods and Food City today donated 29,000 pounds of boneless chicken to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee as part of an effort to feed people in need and promote public awareness of hunger in America.
