ABINGDON, VA (Thursday, February 21, 2013) – Shelves are stocked in preparation for the February 27th opening of the new Food City on E. Andrew Johnson Highway in Greeneville, TN. Customers will get their first look at the 49,800+ square foot unit when the doors open Wednesday morning. The new property marks the third Food City location for the Greeneville area.
“We acquired an existing retail space on Highway 11 E, which has been completely renovated to accommodate our new state-of-the-art floor plan,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer. “The new location marks our third in the Greeneville area and will provide a number of exciting new services and features for our loyal customers.”
The location includes a bakery/deli, complete with hot food bar and seat café; Food City Floral Boutique, staffed with a floral designer seven days per week and offering a full assortment of fresh-cut floral arrangements, bouquets, gift items and more; full service seafood and meat departments, stocked with a wide variety of pre-marinated and seasoned oven ready products and a complete selection of top quality meats that are all-natural with no solutions added, including Certified Angus Beef; in-house meat cutters to hand cut steaks and fresh meat to order; deluxe salad bar, expanded grocery, frozen food, produce and health & beauty care departments; and rapid checkout service provided by seven traditional check-out lanes, one express lane and four self-check-outs.
For added convenience, the store offers a Food City Pharmacy, equipped with a drive-thru for greater ease in prescription services and a Food City Gas N’ Go with a large five pump station. The new location also features several award winning energy saving concepts, ranging from energy efficient glass cooler doors, parking lot lights and refrigeration systems to motion sensors and LED lighting.
