ABINGDON, VA (Wednesday, February 2, 2011) – Food City officials recently announced the addition of a new position to their executive management staff.  Scott Poole, formerly of Springdale, Arkansas has been named to fill the new spot of Vice President of Center Store Operations.  Poole brings more than 25 years of industry experience to the Food City team.
 
“Scott has worked in the grocery industry for a number of years, specializing in procurement, merchandising and strategic planning for both perishables and dry grocery,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.  “I am confident that he will prove to be a valuable asset to our company and that his service in this key position will enable us to continue to advance and improve upon our center store operations.”
 
Prior to joining the Food City team, Poole served in a number of retail capacities, including frozen food buyer, vice president of frozen food & dairy, vice president of dry grocery and vice president of format implementation.  His new responsibilities with Food City will include the oversight of all center store operations, supervision of the category management staff, space management team, grocery supervisors and coordination of the Consumer Product Goods partners.

Poole holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Appalachian State University.  He plans to reside in Abingdon, Virginia with his wife, Beth and five children, Clark, Tanner, Morgan, Meredith and Colby.
