New Morristown Food City Set to Open
                
ABINGDON, VA (Monday, November 8, 2010) - Shelves are stocked in preparation for the November 10th opening of the new Food City located at the intersection of Highway 11E & Jay Bird Road in Morristown, TN.  Customers will get their first look at the 48,000+ square foot store when the doors open Wednesday morning.  The location serves as the chain's fourth supermarket in Hamblen County.
 
"The residents of Morristown and the surrounding areas have been extremely kind to Food City and as Morristown continues to grow and expand, we are thrilled to add another state-of-the-art location to serve the community," said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer."
 
The new store includes a bakery/deli, complete with hot food bar and sit-down café; Food City Floral Boutique, staffed with a floral designer seven days per week and offering a full assortment of fresh-cut floral arrangements, bouquets, gift items and more; video department stocked with the latest releases and classic favorites; full service seafood and meat departments, stocked with a wide variety of pre-marinated and seasoned oven ready products and a complete selection of top quality meats that are all-natural with no solutions added, including Certified Angus Beef; in-house meat cutters to hand cut steaks and fresh meat to order; expanded grocery, frozen food, produce and health & beauty care departments;  and rapid checkout service provided by seven traditional check out lanes, one express lane and four self check-outs.  The location also features the added convenience of a Food City Pharmacy, where a registered pharmacist will be on hand to meet prescription needs and answer health related questions and customers can stop by the Food City Gas N' Go for top quality gasoline at highly competitive prices.
 
The store will also debut several new energy saving concepts, including energy efficient glass doors on all dairy, beverage and lunch meat cases; energy efficient LED lighting in all refrigerated door cases, accent lighting, store front and gas n' go signage; and a skylight system designed for maximum energy efficiency.  The interior décor package will also debut a new floor design for the company.
