The event will take place on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the MeadowView Conference Resort and Convention Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.
“Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success and we’re extremely excited to have another opportunity to work with Celebrity Chef Jon Ashton and several of our local media partners. This year, we’ve expanded the Food Show and incorporated a charitable partner as well. We’re proud to announce that all of the event proceeds will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.
The Food City Food Show will feature a number of vendor booths, providing free food samples and money saving coupons. Celebrity Chef Jon Ashton will take the stage on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. for a special cooking demonstration.
Ashton hails from Liverpool, England and credits his grandmother for spurring his lifelong passion for cooking. He is a graduate of St. Helens College in Great Britain and began his culinary career in several notable English restaurants, including the Derby Lodge Hotel and The Kirkfield Hotel in Newton Le-Willows. Ashton has appeared frequently on The Today Show and The Tonight Show. He is currently the food correspondent for the nationally syndicated morning show, The Daily Buzz, which broadcasts to more than 160 stations. Through his work as Contributing Editor of Parade (65 MM weekly readers) and Dash (36 MM monthly readers) magazines, Ashton can be seen on ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX affiliates across the nation as he travels on media tours and presentations for the Dash Around the Table Cook Show Tour. The two-hour multi-city event combines cooking demonstrations with audience interaction.
