Downtown Wytheville is pleased to announce that Food City will be a contributing partner for 2022.
Abingdon, VA. - Friday, Mar 25, 2022.

The Wytheville Food City opened in 2021 and has generated $12,000,000 of private investment and 160 total jobs to the Downtown Business district and the local economy.

“Having Food City locate in the Downtown business district has been huge for our community. The private investment in which we saw in the district in 2021 was 2nd to none in the state of Virginia and Food City is a big part of that reason. It is massive scale projects like this that can change the overall landscape and health and wellness of our community. We are grateful they chose Wytheville and especially the Downtown business district” said Todd Wolford Executive Director of Downtown Wytheville Inc.

Wolford continued, “Working alongside Food City representatives through the process of building the store has been very rewarding, and now having them come on board and support our efforts as an organization is amazing. I am thankful that we started this partnership from day one and look forward to all the great things we will do together for our community”

“Food City is proud to be a member of the Wytheville retail community.  We’re excited to support the Downtown Wytheville Partnership Program and their efforts to fund programs, events, and initiatives that promote community development, foster an entrepreneurial environment, and create a prosperous business climate in Wytheville,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.
