Make Healthy Meals Happen
Mountain Harvest Kitchen — Unicoi, TN. - Monday, October 23, 2017, 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Studies show that families who take the time to eat together at home are not only happier, but healthier as well. Family meals provide numerous benefits for adults and especially children. Kids who eat more meals at home set healthier habits that often continue into adulthood; they do well in school and have better mental health and positive family relationships. Plus, eating meals at home typically results in consuming fewer calories and sugar and more beneficial nutrients from fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Despite these benefits, research shows that only 30% of American families share dinner every night. Juggling jobs, kids, and the demands of a busy life can often get in the way of family mealtimes. Join us for a class and cooking demonstration on planning and preparation tips to make shared meals at home fun, affordable, and healthier. This class will be presented by Elizabeth Hall, Food City Registered Dietitian and Crystal West, Registered Dietitian for MSHA Health Resources Centers. Food samples provided.
