Food City is gearing up for Friday’s running of the Food City 300 at Bristol Motor Speedway, one of the most popular events in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Earlier today, company officials announced that WJHL Daytime Tri-Cities co-host Chris McIntosh will serve as the event Grand Marshal, delivering the starting command for Friday night’s clash.

“For the past 38 years I have covered racing at Bristol Motor Speedway for WJHL. I have seen so much history made at The World’s Fastest Half-Mile! I am truly honored to be selected by my friends at Food City to be Grand Marshal for the Food City 300 and I am looking forward to giving the command and hearing those engines roar to life Friday evening under the lights at Bristol,” says McIntosh.

McIntosh began his full-time career in the News Department at WJHL in 1988 after having worked part-time in the Production Department. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Management from East Tennessee State University in 1988 as well. Chris and is his lovely wife, Tammy are the proud parents of two sons, Connor and Cooper. He enjoys golf, fishing, and spending time with his family.

WJHL Daytime Tri-Cities co-host Amy Lynn will serve as Honorary Starter, waving the green flag to unleash the pack.

“I’ll never forget the first time I covered the race from the rooftop of the high banks - I was in awe of the sheer size of the track and the energy of the event.  Now, to be the one waving the green flag that officially unleashes the power and speed, is an honor and a moment I will never forget,” says Amy Lynn.

Amy Lynn has been in broadcasting since she graduated from college at St Cloud State University in Minnesota. She’s worked as a reporter and anchor at television stations in Montana, Michigan, Virginia and now Tennessee.   Her transition from news anchor to show host happened back in 2008 when she helped launch Daytime TriCities at WJHL. Amy feels at home with Daytime. “It is such a wonderful show. The mission is live, local, fun and I am blessed to explore places and meet people all over this wonderful area!” Amy draws her inspiration from the people she meets and the places she visits. She feels very fortunate to have met truly amazing people along the way. These people are her friends and neighbors who have overcome tremendous hardships and have risen to the top. She claims, "There is nothing more uplifting than meeting ordinary people who do extraordinary things. Their attitudes and caring nature serve as an inspiration to all of us." Amy loves traveling and spending time with her husband and kids on adventures near and far!
