Feeding Southwest Virginia, UnitedHealthcare, and Food City Nourish Neighbors in Need
Lee County, VA. - Friday, Dec 5, 2025.

Feeding Southwest Virginia, UnitedHealthcare, Food City, and Mt. Carmel Baptist Church will hold a holiday food distribution on December 9th at 473 Leeman Park Circle in Pennington Gap. Shelf-stable food boxes will be available, while supplies last, from 12 to 2 p.m. In addition, the Food Bank will offer Food City gift cards to the first 25 families (1 per household) to arrive on-site.

Feeding Southwest Virginia, a Food Bank that serves 12,400 square miles of Southwest Virginia, sees an increased need each year as the holiday season approaches. In Lee County, 4,820 neighbors, including 1,210 children, face hunger.

Many neighbors are expressing concern about food sources and continued support throughout the holidays this year. Thanks to UnitedHealthcare, we can address these concerns and provide additional food resources to Lee County neighbors.

“It is the utmost priority of our Food Bank to not only feed neighbors in need, but nourish them,” says Pamela Irvine, chief executive officer and president of Feeding Southwest Virginia. “We are so grateful to UnitedHealthcare, Food City, and Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for helping give our neighbors hope this holiday season! Thanks to their support, the families and children who face hunger in Lee County do not have to go without."

“This holiday season is particularly challenging for many of our friends and neighbors, and Food City is proud to partner with Feeding Southwest Virginia and UnitedHealthcare to provide some much-needed assistance to those in need during this critical time,” says Kevin Stafford, Food City vice president of marketing.
