Jack Greene, D.Ph., pharmacist for the Oak Ridge, TN Food City Pharmacy is the recipient of the 2016 John McNiel Customer Service Award.
“Food City is dedicated to providing our loyal customers with exceptional customer service. We created the John McNiel Award to recognize pharmacists who embody that commitment,” says Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer. “Jack is devoted to his customers and ensuring they receive the best possible care and service. He is a tremendous asset, not only to our company, but to the region as a whole, and we certainly congratulate him on this great honor.”
Each year, Food City recognizes a pharmacist from their two operating divisions for their outstanding customer service achievements. Greene was named this year’s award recipient for Food City’s Knoxville Division. The award was established in honor of John McNiel, Food City’s first pharmacist. The company opened their pilot pharmacy location in Harlan, KY in 1997. McNiel’s huge success, due primarily to his outstanding customer service and care for his patients, led in large part to the company’s expansion of the pharmacy concept. Today, Food City operates 100 pharmacies throughout their 135 store supermarket chain.
“I would like to thank Food City for allowing me to work for such a great company,” says Greene. “My uncle managed a small grocery store about three blocks from our store and when I started working here, he was so proud and happy for me. He really cared about his customers and taught me a lot about customer service. I love my job and all of our loyal Food City customers.”
Greene graduated from Mercer University’s Southern School of Pharmacy in Atlanta, GA in 1971. He and his lovely wife Connie were married two weeks later and relocated to Tennessee. Greene has been with the company for 15 years. He also serves as Vice President of the Oak Ridge Gideons and is a member of Glenwood Baptist Church, where he teaches the Adult III Sunday School Class and sings in the Adult Choir. Jack and Connie are the proud parents of three beautiful children and five grandchildren. They currently reside in Oak Ridge, TN.
“At Food City Pharmacy, our mission is to run the best pharmacy in town and Jack has always exemplified that goal. He strives to take care of his patients in the most professional and ethical manner possible,” says Will Bevins, Food City director of pharmacy operations.
