Significant Expansion Underway at Food City in Blountville, TN

A significant expansion is currently underway at the Food City on Highway 394 in Blountville, TN. The project is scheduled to wrap up this fall and includes the addition of over 7,000 sq. ft. of retail space, increasing the store’s total sq. ft. to nearly 50,500 sq. ft.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to enlarge the Blountville Food City to accommodate some exciting new services and conveniences,” says Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer. “The expansion is scheduled to wrap up this fall and our team is working hard to ensure the least amount of interruption to our customers.”

The project will result in the creation of 40 new area jobs and includes the addition of several exciting new amenities, including a Starbucks café offering a wide assortment of blended hot and cold coffees and beverages and an assortment of tasty breakfast sandwiches and pastries. The produce and food service departments will nearly double in size to incorporate some exciting new services, including a large sit-down café, fresh food bar featuring a variety of soup, salad and fruit selections, hickory wood smoker, fresh sushi, expanded cheese shop, fresh popcorn, and a fireplace. The pharmacy is relocating to a new, larger space and will be equipped with a walk-up window. The floral department and fresh meat cases are also being expanded to make way for more variety and selection.
