Food City is excited to introduce an innovative new pharmacy prescription program. Through a pilot program with the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy, Food City is installing an RX Pickup Station inside their Gatlinburg, TN location. The kiosk is the first of its kind in a retail location in the state of Tennessee.
“I am extremely excited that Food City Pharmacy is able to provide this service for the residents of Gatlinburg and the surrounding areas. I appreciate the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy for allowing us to be a part of this pilot program which will enable us to provide a convenient way for patients to access pharmacy services in an area that otherwise has none,” said Mickey Blazer, executive vice president of pharmacy and fuel operations for Food City.
Gatlinburg, TN currently has no pharmacy locations. The new pilot program will enable Food City to restore pharmacy services to the area. Food City will fill prescriptions at their Pigeon Forge pharmacy and deliver them to the RX Pickup Station inside the Gatlinburg store. The RX Pickup Station is a kiosk system designed by iLocalBox that provides a safe, secure, HIPAA compliant experience for pharmacy patients.
Patients are invited to call the Pigeon Forge Food City Pharmacy to request a prescription pickup at the Gatlinburg RX Pickup Station. Prescriptions will be filled exclusively by the Pigeon Forge Food City Pharmacy and patient counseling will be provided over the phone. Orders received by 1:00 p.m. EDT will be delivered the same day by a registered pharmacy technician, who will load them into the RX Pickup Station. Patients will receive a text notification with a secure code to enter at the kiosk for pickup. Patients can sign for their prescriptions and submit payment at the kiosk. The RX Pickup Station is equipment with a phone and video monitor, enabling patients to contact the Pigeon Forge Food City Pharmacy as needed. Federally controlled substances, refrigerated items, and reconstituted products will not be accepted through the kiosk.
Food City is excited to pilot this new innovative program in partnership with the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy. Customers are invited to take advantage of this convenient new service now available at the Gatlinburg Food City.
