ABINGDON, VA (Monday, June 22, 2026) – Company officials are celebrating the completion of a significant remodel at the Food City on S Mayo Trail in Pikeville, KY.

“We are excited to be wrapping up some much-needed upgrades to our Shelbiana store to better serve our loyal customers,” says Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer. 

The project included the installation of a modern décor package and new flooring throughout the interior of the store. Upgrades also included new bakery/deli and produce cases, as well as new meat department islands. The checkout area was enhanced with new cash registers and the addition of six self-checkout units. A dedicated pharmacy consultation room was also incorporated into the remodel.

“We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and patience during the remodel,” says Smith. “I think they will agree the improvements were well worth the wait.”
