Food City Coming to Winchester, TN
Abingdon, VA. - Friday, Nov 20, 2020.

Earlier today, company officials announced plans to construct a Food City at the intersection of Cowan Highway and Halfmoon Road in Winchester, TN.  The 54,200+ square foot supermarket is expected to open early next Summer.

“We are excited to be joining the Winchester retail community.  We look forward to constructing a state-of-the-art supermarket that will create quality jobs and tax revenue for the citizens of Winchester and Franklin County,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.

The location will include an in-store bakery/deli, complete with a hot food bar, large 38+ café seating area, fireplace, deluxe soup/salad bar, hickory wood smoker and stone hearth pizza oven.  Full-service meat and seafood departments will offer pre-marinated and seasoned oven ready products, plus a complete selection of all-natural top-quality meats, including Certified Angus Beef and fresh sushi.  In-house butchers will hand cut steaks and fresh meat to order.  Expanded grocery, frozen food and produce departments will go well beyond the normal fare with a large selection of gourmet, international and specialty items.  The Food City Floral Boutique will be staffed with a designer seven days per week and offer fresh-cut floral arrangements, bouquets, gift items and more.  Rapid checkout service will be provided by six traditional check-out lanes and eight self-checkouts.

The store will also include a Food City Pharmacy, equipped with a drive-thru and consultation room to discuss patient prescription needs and administer immunizations, Food City Gas N’ Go fuel center, a Starbucks café, offering a wide assortment of blended hot and cold coffees and beverages and a beer tasting station.  The new store will also offer GoCart curbside pick-up.  Customers can shop on-line at foodcity.com and their order will be loaded into their vehicle when they arrive.

The new location will feature several award-winning energy saving concepts, ranging from energy efficient glass cooler doors, LED parking lot lights and signage to motion sensors and 100% LED interior lighting, as well as an open rafter ceiling design.

“Our customers can expect to find exceptional customer service and top-quality products at the lowest possible prices, along with great variety/selection and some exciting new services,” says Smith.
