Abingdon, VA. - Wednesday, Mar 31, 2021.

Food City recently wrapped up their Friends in Need Food Drive.  “Hunger is a serious problem throughout our region and Food City is proud to host a number of hunger relief programs throughout the year, including our Friends in Need Food Drive.  The drive benefits local hunger relief organizations throughout our area,” says Steven C. Smith, Food City’s president and chief executive officer.

During the campaign, Food City customers were invited to purchase specially marked bags containing non-perishable food items.  100% of the products purchased benefit local hunger relief organizations throughout the region.

“Millions of Americans need food assistance each year.  The Food City Friends in Need Food Drive is another way we can help those in need right here in our own area,” adds Kevin Stafford, vice president of marketing for Food City.

The Bluefield, VA Food City collected 19 pallets of non-perishable food items.  Union Mission Food Pantry and Bland Ministry Center received the products collected.  Food City officials made the presentation to the two food banks on Wednesday, March 31st at 1:00 p.m. at the Bluefield, VA Food City.

“We would like to thank our loyal customers and dedicated associates for their generosity.  Your support will help feed hundreds of our friends and neighbors in need,” said Food City store managers - Mike Goodson & Kelly Smith.
