One great way to make the most of family mealtime is to prioritize plants! Try some of these tips to get more fruits and vegetables on the plate.

Hide them in plain sight. Hide diced vegetables in meatloaf and burgers, put veggies on pizza or in spaghetti sauce. Finely chopping or using a food processor can allow veggies to be seamlessly sautéed into family favorite dishes.

One pot meal. Soups and stews can be a great way to feed a crowd and sneak in nutrient dense veggies. Roasted tomatoes, celery, corn, kale, or even squash! Food City offers fresh soup starters in the produce section that reduce prep time.

Maximize flavor. This sounds like an obvious suggestion, but flavor is the secret to having kids enjoy veggies.  Try infusing flavor by roasting with herbs and spices, sautéing with pesto, or serving with a flavorful dipping sauce – like Greek yogurt ranch.

Make into a sweet treat. What kid doesn’t love dessert. Baked goods are a fantastic way to sneak in extra fruits and veggies.  From pumpkin muffins, zucchini brownies, or fruit “nice” cream.  You can make and freeze many treats featuring produce.
