Myron McCormick Named Food City District Manager

Food City recently named Myron McCormick as a district manager in their Chattanooga operating division. A life-time grocer, McCormick brings over 36 years of industry knowledge and experience to this key role. 

“Myron has amassed a wonderful career of experiences, both as a grocer and leader/mentor which will be a tremendous asset as a district manager. His passion for excellence is evident in the many key positions he has held throughout our company. Myron has always been at the forefront, willing to take on new challenges - and likewise, many members of his team have been promoted to higher roles within the company. I would like to congratulate Myron on undertaking such a huge growth district,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer. 

McCormick began his career with Red Foods in 1987 as a courtesy clerk. He quickly worked his way through the ranks, serving as a cashier, stocker, produce manager, seafood manager, customer service manager, lead assistant manager, and store manager. McCormick joined the Food City store management team in 2015 when the company acquired 29 BI-LO supermarkets in the Chattanooga market area. Having served as a store manager for 23 years of his career, McCormick has managed 9 different locations in Tennessee and Georgia and served as opening store manager for three Food City locations. McCormick was promoted to his most recent position as new market development manager for Food City in 2023. In his new role as district manager, McCormick will be responsible for the oversite of the company’s southernmost district, which includes stores in Albertville, AL and Winchester, TN, with new locations soon coming in Gadsden, AL, Kimball, TN, and throughout Huntsville, AL.

McCormick served as president of BI-LO’s Multicultural Network, led the company’s Store Manager Marketing Council, and was named a BI-LO President’s Club Winner. He has also served as a member of his local Kiwanis Club, member of the Chambers of Commerce in Whitfield, Catoosa, Walker, Hamilton, Gordon, and Bartow counties, and on a number of school related boards throughout the region.

McCormick is a graduate of Southeast Whitfield High School in Dalton, GA and attended Dalton State College, also in Dalton, GA. He completed the Dale Carnegie Training Course, along with a number of other specialized management training courses. McCormick currently resides in Dalton, GA, but is in the process of relocating to Owens Cross Roads, AL to begin his new position.
