Food City Brings Back $100,000 Treasure Hunt In Celebration of 100th Anniversary
Abingdon, VA. - Monday, Apr 9, 2018.

This year Food City is proud to be celebrating their 100th Anniversary.  The retail supermarket chain has a number of exciting events planned throughout the year-long celebration.  To kick-off the festivities, the company has announced the return of one of their most unique and successful promotions – the $100,000 Treasure Hunt.

“Food City is extremely proud to be celebrating our 100th Anniversary.  This would not be possible without the support and loyalty of our valued customers and associates.  To show our appreciation, we have lots of special surprises cued up.  But we felt it befitting to begin the celebration with the return of everyone’s all-time favorite – the $100,000 Treasure Hunt,” says Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.

During the next several months, the Food City Prize Team will hit the road to award big cash prizes to winners throughout their market area.   The contest begins April 18th and continues through June 13th.  Food City shoppers will be automatically entered to win each time they use their ValuCard to purchase five or more Food City, Food Club, Full Circle Market, Wide Awake Coffee Co., Tippy Toes, Kern’s, Kay’s, Harvest Club, Paws Happy Life, Evolve, Over the Top, Nostimo, aease, CharKing, Misty Mountain, Flock’s Finest, b-lieve, Moore’s, Simply Done, TopCare, Top Crest, Culinary Tours, Buckley Farms, Sweet P’s, Valu Time, Terry’s, Pure Harmony or Lay Meats store brand products during the same shopping visit.

Random winners will be selected throughout the contest period.  The Food City Prize Team will visit the homes of perspective winners on April 28th, May 12th, May 26th, June 9th and June 23rd.  Each weekend, lucky winners will be given an opportunity to contend for cash prizes.  Winners will be given ten minutes to present as many participating store brand products as possible.  They will receive $200 for showing their ValuCard and $100 for each qualifying product presented to the Prize Team within the allotted ten minutes, up to the maximum prize payout of $10,000.

“Our team has so many great memories from our former Treasure Hunt days.  It’s such a unique promotion and we’re hoping this year’s 100th Anniversary commemorative edition will be the largest cash payout on record,” adds Smith.

The contest is open to legal residents of Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia and West Virginia, 18 years of age or older at the time of entry.  Someone at least 18 years of age must be present at the time of the Prize Team visit to win cash prizes.  Some restrictions apply.  Please see participating Food City locations for official rules and regulations.
