The Olde Farm Golf Club is proud to announce Food City as a title sponsor for The American Legends for Mountain Mission Kids charity golf tournament.

Proceeds from the tournament, slated for Sept. 10, 2018, at The Olde Farm in Bristol, Virginia, will benefit Mountain Mission School (MMS), an accredited, non-profit school in Grundy, Virginia.

“Food City has a long history of supporting teachers and schools throughout Southwest Virginia, East Kentucky, Northeast Tennessee and North Georgia, and we are committed to helping the students at Mountain Mission pursue their educational goals in a supportive family environment,” said Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer. “Having grown up in Grundy and knowing the great work that Mountain Mission does, we are especially proud to give back to our friends and neighbors and to foster relationships with community partners like The Olde Farm and Mountain Mission School.”

MMS provides stability, shelter, nourishment and a high-quality education for at-risk children from throughout the U.S. and more than a dozen other countries. The school hosts 250-300 children who study, share communal meals, and reside on grounds with faculty and staff who also serve as parental figures. Over its 97-year history, the school has assisted more than 20,000 students.

Celebrating its centennial anniversary this year, Food City takes pride in giving back to the regions it serves. The supermarket chain has stores located in Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky and Georgia, and is owned by K-VA-T Food Stores, a privately held family and employee-owned corporation headquartered in Abingdon, Virginia.

Since its inception, Food City’s School Bucks program has awarded approximately $18.6 million to more than 1,000 regional schools via supplies, educational materials, computers and sporting items.

“Food City has been dedicated to serving students throughout the Appalachian region for several generations, including those at Mountain Mission School,” says Ted Wood, tournament director. “We are grateful for their generous support of The American Legends tournament and look forward to continuing to make a difference in the lives of these students and future generations.”
