Abingdon, VA. - Wednesday, Apr 21, 2021.

Food City recently announced the promotion of Steven Jones to District Manager for the company’s westernmost district in their Knoxville operating division.  Jones brings 22 years of industry experience and knowledge to this key position.

“I’ve enjoyed watching Steven grow as a leader in our company over the years, as he has taken on different challenges and excelled at them.  Our company is only successful when our people are successful and we’re very excited to have Steven lead District 8 for Food City,” says Steven C. Smith, Food City president and chief executive officer.

Jones began his retail career in 1999 with a large regional supermarket chain and worked his way through the ranks from a courtesy clerk, to cashier, perishable stocker, assistant produce manager, and produce manager.  He joined the Food City team in 2005 as an assistant store manager for Food City’s Halls Center location in Knoxville, TN.  In 2015, he was promoted to store manager for the Bearden Center store and later managed the original Pigeon Forge store before assisting with the opening and managing the company’s new Teaster Lane store in Pigeon Forge, TN.  As district manager, Jones will be responsible for directing store operations for 11 Food City locations across Campbell, Roane, Anderson, Cumberland, Loudon, Rhea - and soon to be Putman counties in Tennessee.

“It’s a privilege to work for a great company that supports and encourages its associates to grow both personally and professionally.  At Food City, delivering exceptional customer service is our top priority and I look forward to working with the store teams throughout my district to provide the best possible service to our loyal customers and the communities we serve,” says Jones.

Jones is a graduate of Jefferson County High School in Dandridge, TN and attends Shady Baptist Church in Strawberry Plains, TN, where his father serves as pastor.  He and his lovely wife, Maraya currently reside in Knoxville, TN.  They are the proud parents of four children, Crayten, Braygen, Anistyn, and Caragyn.
